Why do Chiropractors talk about health and well-being? Why don’t they just stick to back pain, neck pain, and headaches?
That’s a great question. I’ve been both directly and indirectly asked this question. Here’s the good news, I can answer it, and you’ll like the answer. In fact, If I was to gamble (which I don’t do), I would place a bet on you being thankful that I’ve answered the question.
It’s simple really. I know it’s probably been made very complicated in the past though. So very simply, whether your spine was in your neck and back or your shoulder and arm, or hip, knee, and leg. We would still check that spine! What?! Absolutely! Because all the nerves that run through the entire body have to start somewhere, and they start at the spinal cord. The spinal cord is protected by the spine. The nervous communicate with every organ, muscle, and tissue, in the entire body. If that vertebra is out of alignment, a nerve can have pressure on it, which will decrease the ability of the nerve to communicate with wherever it goes. If that’s your liver, you may not have pain, but if your liver decreases in function. We know how important the liver is! How about our heart, lungs, kidneys? But why are we told it’s about back pain, neck pain, and headaches? Here’s the truth, our spine is housed in those locations? Meaning, our brain sits on our skull, which sits on our spine, it runs through our neck, and then down our back. Those three conditions go away quickly with regular chiropractic care (not promising, just check out our patient testimonials) … therefore, we get that reputation! We don’t mind that we help people with those things, we just want to make sure that you get the real message of chiropractic. Chiropractic care affects the health and well-being of the entire body!
